May 1, 2021I was looking for a combo tour near Dreams Las Mareas where I stayed two weeks ago. I wanted to explore the maximum of nature and wildlife in a single... read more day. Due to the fact that I had never rented a private tour so far, I decided to ask all the agencies in the hotel first. All of them told me that the idea of combining a waterfall, a sloth tour, and hanging bridges is impossible or would cost me about $600. They also tried to convince me that the chance of seeing a sloth is only 50%. That's why I decided to look for a private tour, so I discovered Wild World Wonders Tours, I called Yeudy (the owner) and asked him what would it cost me if I’m alone. I had to pay for me and half the price for a second adult ($250 total), so I agreed. Yeudy came to meet me from the hotel on time and we left. His SUV was very clean, and he had prepared snacks and water for me. Along the way, he stopped at interesting spots with incredible views and he took some pictures of me every time I asked him to. Not only were we able to visit all the places I’ve planned, but we didn't have to rush. We were moving according to my rhythm, and Yeudy constantly explained interesting things about his country and about everything we visited in particular. His knowledge of the flora and fauna is inexhaustible so everyone can learn something new. The culmination was when we started our sloth tour. We saw 5 sloths of both species and all of them were awake. One of them even came down to us and all the while we felt like he was smiling at us, and finally, he fell asleep. Then we visited the hanging bridges in the rain forest. The paths were extremely well-trodden and along the way, we saw 2 species of monkeys, different species of birds, many butterflies and whimsical trees. When you stand in the middle of the bridge with this magical even mystical nature that surrounds you, it is incredible. To anyone who wants to immerse themselves by the beauty of Costa Rica and wants to see something untouched by human hand, I highly recommend you contact Yeudy and he will arrange a tour that will even surpass your expectations.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with other reviewer posts with regards WWW Tours. Yeudy is an amazing guide! My wife and I were visiting Costa Rica with our... read more 10 year old daughter. Not only did he keep us informed with his knowledge of Costa Rica during the drive from the airport to our hotel and back (a 5 hour drive each way from San Jose to Dreams Las Mareas near La Cruz), he could not have been any friendlier, kinder or more courteous; checking we were ok or if we needed comfort breaks, etc... He is also a very patient, safe driver of his spacious Hyundai people carrier and his English is immaculate.
We were lucky enough that he was available for the day whilst we were in Costa Rica for a private trip, which was bespoke based on where we wanted to visit (The Hanging Bridges, Sloth sanctuary and a souvenir shop in Liberia for gifts). Yeudy was flexible with stops; was so knowledgable about all of the floura & fourna, nature and wildlife whilst guiding us through the rain forest and sloth-spotting and always offering to pause to take family photos (or photos of wildlife through his binoculars!) for us as well as taking us to a lovely restaurant / butterfly farm for lunch.
I highly recommend Yeudy for any tours you may want to do in Costa Rica - nothing was too much trouble; he was lovey!! Thank you so much again Yeudy!!!

We did 2 days of excursions with Yeudy during our stay at Dreams Las Mareas and both were fantastic. Great service, knowledgeable guides, excellent drivers (these are private tours). They... read more brought water and snacks (including some local biscuits and empanadas with Yeudy on day 2) which really was a nice touch.
The first tour we did was a combination of the waterfall and sloth tour and we had Oscar as our guide that day. He was very knowledgeable about nature and animals and gave us great information as we drove to the attractions. We saw sloths, posion dart frogs and many birds on the sloth tour (where there was a local guide to walk us through the park and help us take pictures). We were originally supposed to do the hanging bridges as well, but the kids were tired, so Oscar suggested we do a tour of Liberia and took us to a local ice cream shop before the drive home.
Based on the first great day, we booked the river cruise where we had Yeudy himself as our guide. Once again, the local knowledge was amazing and we learned a ton about Costa Rica during the drive. The river tour was great and we saw tons of animals, including 11 crocodiles. We also saw:
Howler monkeys
Black iguana
Green iguana
Basilisk (Jesus Christ lizard)
Barn owl
Little blue heron
Great blue heron
Green heron
Tiger heron
Kingfisher
Osprey (one with fish in talons)
Long nose bats
Green parrots
Scarlet macaw
Soldier birds
and various other birds.
After the tour we had a local lunch at the boat tour facility, which was probably the best food we had on the entire trip (and the food at Dreams is actually very good).
All in all, we would highly recommend doing tours with Yeudy when you are at Dreams or anywhere else near La Cruz.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. We had already booked a fishing tour through Yeudy. When we arrived in CR, the rental car we reserved... read more was not available. Not only that, there were no cars to be found...we were basically left stuck. After messaging Yeudy, he set up transportation for the special things we wanted to do as well as set us up with airport transportation and even a guide for our fun things to do (Oscar and Emilio were fantastic). Our trip would likely had been ruined if it were not for Yeudy. He was a really great communicator and eased our mind as well as quick to help. The company always did what they said they were going to do and made sure that we were getting exactly what we needed. I can honestly say that we believe our trip was actually made better for because some of the experiences and things we saw were more than what we had planned for ourselves. Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth is a heavily built animal with shaggy fur and slow, deliberate movements. The fore feet have only two toes, each ending with long, curved claws, although three clawed toes are on each of the hind feet.
Other features that distinguish it from three-toed sloths, which may be found in the same geographic areas, include the longer snout, separate rather than partially fused toes of the forefeet, the absence of hair on the soles of the feet, and larger overall size.
The wrist of the sloth has developed some specific traits due to their slow, yet acrobatic motions.
These evolved traits include diminution and distal migration of the pisiform bone, with a loss of contact with the ulna; reduction of the distal end of the ulna to a styloid process; and extremely reduced contact between the ulna and triquetral bone.
Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth is, however, much easier to confuse with the related Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth, which it closely resembles.
The primary physical differences between the two species relate to subtle skeletal features; for example, Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth has three foramina in the upper forward part of the interpterygoid space, rather than just two, and often – but not always – has fewer cervical vertebrae.
Adults range from 54 to 72 cm (21 to 28 in) in head-body length, and weigh from 2.1 to 9 kg (4.6 to 19.8 lb).
Although they do have stubby tails, just 1.5 to 3 cm (0.59 to 1.18 in) long, this is too short to be visible through the long fur.
The claws are 5 to 6.5 cm (2.0 to 2.6 in) long. Females are larger on average than males, although with considerable overlap in size. Their fur is tan to light brown in colour, being lighter on the face, but usually has a greenish tinge because of the presence of algae living in the hairs.
Sloth Tour and Hanging Bridges
The brown-throated sloth is of similar size and build to most other species of three-toed sloths, with both males and females being 42 to 80 cm (17 to 31 in) in total body length. The tail is relatively short, only 2.5 to 9 cm (1.0 to 3.5 in) long. Adults weigh from 2.25 to 6.3 kg (5.0 to 13.9 lb), with no significant size difference between males and females.
The head is rounded, with a blunt nose and inconspicuous ears. As with other sloths, the brown-throated sloth has no incisor or canine teeth, and the cheek teeth are simple and peg-like. They have no gall bladder, cecum, or appendix.
The brown-throated sloth has grayish-brown to beige-color fur over the body, with darker brown fur on the throat, the sides of the face, and the forehead. The face is generally paler in color, with a stripe of very dark fur running beneath the eyes.
The guard hairs are very coarse and stiff, and overlie a much softer layer of dense under-fur.
The hairs are unusual in lacking a central medulla, and have numerous microscopic cracks across their surfaces. These cracks are host to a number of commensal species of algae, including Rufusia pillicola, Dictyococcus bradypodis, and Chlorococcum choloepodis.
The algae are generally absent in the hair of young sloths, and may also be absent in particularly old individuals, where the outer cuticle of the hair has been lost. Sloth hair also harbours a rich fungal flora. Certain strains of fungi that grow on brown-throated sloth fur have been shown to possess anti-parasitic, anti-cancer, and anti-bacterial qualities.
Over parts of its range, the brown-throated sloth overlaps the range of Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth.
Where this overlap occurs, the three-toed sloth tends to be smaller and more numerous than its relative, being more active in moving through the forest and maintaining more diurnal activity.
Each foot has three fingers, ending in long, curved claws, which are 7 to 8 cm (2.8 to 3.1 in) long on the fore feet, and 5 to 5.5 cm (2.0 to 2.2 in) on the hind feet.
